The Headway brand started a long time ago as a barbershop in Tomas Morato, a commercial area in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. After two decades as the go-to barbershop in the area, there was a need for the shop to recreate itself as a lot of salons have popped up and started getting their share of customers left and right, caused by the younger generation shifting to modern and fashionable hairstyle trends.
Enter Mikhail Hirang, the new Marketing Head of Headway Vera Salon. A young and determined indivdual, he’s ultimate goal was to bring Headway back up to its feet by redefining hair cutting styles and solutions combined with an affordable pricing scheme.
In lieu of this branding change was the renovation of the old Headway Barbershop in Tomas Morato. Right after the completion of the the renovated SM MOA branch, Mikhail Hirang requested that the design be copied to the one in Tomas Morato. However, the FORENEHIT Team wanted to incorporate a minor change specific to this first Headway shop. Focusing on the original barbershop concept, our designers took inspiration from a barber’s number one tool - the hair clipper. Seeing that a hair clipper’s trimming guards have a distinct repetitive form that could be used for design, the team decided to replace the curved forms on top of the the mirrors with curved slats mimicing the form which provided an additional ultramodern detail to the shop.
Together with this were the standard details which we incorporated in the Headway Vera SM MOA Branch - A simple white color scheme with deep red color accents, curved and free flowing shapes to provide a fluid and relaxing ambience, and artificial lighting through covelights which rendered colors more accurately while also eliminating unnecessary shadows on the face of clients.
